  • Health and safety at work act 1974
  • Code of practice
  • Introduction to the machine and components
  • Pre-checks before operating
  • Basic operation and controls
  • Construction site safety
  • Setting up to dig and re-setting for travelling
  • Safe working loads (SWL)
  • Safe practical operations for loading of forward tipping dumpers, hoppers and skips
  • Operating the loading skid steer when stock piling material
  • End of shift safe parking procedures


Theory and Practical Examination.


1 instructor : 1 skid steer : 3 candidates


The duration of the course will vary depending on the experience of the candidates.

  • Novice operators: 3 day course
  • Experienced operators: 1 day course
